Organized by Out and About Travel, the Utah Gay & Lesbian Ski Week takes place in early to mid-January (the dates were Jan. 9 to 13 this year and have not yet been announced for 2014), a couple of weeks before the prestigious and star-studded Sundance Festival, which dominates the entire region during the second half of January (January 16-26 in 2014). The five-day event features a day of skiing and snowboarding at five different resorts in the area - it's a separate event from Elevation: Utah - Park City Gay Ski Week, which takes place for the second time this year, in late February (February 21 to 24, 2013 (it's the sister event to the wildly popular Elevation: Mammoth, held in California in March).
Here's a look at the Utah Gay & Lesbian Ski Week, aka Utah Gay Ski Safari:
Each day features skiing or snowboarding at one of Park City's or Salt Lake City's famed mountains: Alta (this one is ski-only, as it doesn't allow snowboarding), The Canyons, Brighton, Snowbasin, and Snowbird.
The organizers of Utah Gay & Lesbian Ski Week offer three-day and weekend packages that include lift tickets, "gay bus" transportation each day, and welcome parties and dinners - call 800-842-4753 to purchase the package, or also to book all of the other aspects of your trip to Utah, as this is a full-service agency that can book hotels, car rentals, flights and so on. Also take a look at the excellent travel website produced by the Park City tourism office as well as the Salt Lake City Convention and Visitors Bureau website.
