Kraft Nabisco Golf Championship in Palm Springs, April 2009
A Preview of Kraft Nabisco Golf Championship, held during Dinah Shore Week

By Andrew Collins, About.com

Dinah Shore Week is named for the LPGA Golf Tournament held in Palm Springs at the same time, the Kraft Nabisco Championship. The tournament was begun in 1972 as the Colgate Dinah Shore championship; in 1982 it changed to the Nabisco Dinah Shore, and then the Nabisco Championship in 2000 and 2001 before coming to be known by its current title.

The tournament takes place at the Dinah Shore Tournament Course at Mission Hills Country Club, in the nearby community of Rancho Mirage. Parking for those attending the Kraft Nabisco Championship is in Cathedral City, at Crossley and Ramon Roads, from which shuttles run continuously to the golf course.

Although plenty of women attending Dinah Shore Week have no interest in the golf tournament, many others wouldn't think of coming to town that week without catching at least part of the tournament - indeed, this is one of the most popular spectator sporting events in the world among lesbians. You can buy tickets to the Kraft Nabisco Championship online.

Jane Blalock won the very first Dinah Shore Championship in 1972, and Lorena Ochoa took first prize most recently, in 2008. You can learn more about the event at About.com Golf Guide's page on the Kraft Nabisco Championship.
