Although for years it had been held in one of the nation's most popular gay resort communities, Rehoboth Beach, the Delaware Gay Pride Festival has moved up closer to the capital of Wilmington, to Delaware City (just south of New Castle). Delaware Gay Pride will take place this year on Saturday, October 19, in Delaware City's Battery Park (which is on the riverfront at Harbor and Clinton Sts.), which is about 18 miles southwest of Wilmington.
If you've grown accustomed to attending the event in the lovely beach town and popular gay resort of Rehoboth, don't be too discouraged. Rehoboth is just a 90-minute drive south, so you could easily spend the weekend there, driving up to Delaware City for Pride on Saturday.
If you are in the Rehoboth area, check local gay papers, such as Letters From Camp Rehoboth, for advice on what to see and do - Camp Rehoboth is a terrific resource, basically the LGBT community center and tourism information office for the area.
