San Jose Gay Pride is a fittingly vibrant and well-attended event for the third-largest city in California (yes, it's an even bigger city than San Francisco, albeit with a fraction of the gay population). San Jose Pride takes place in mid-June (in 2009, the dates are June 12 through June 14). Shop for rooms and compare rates on hotels in San Jose during Gay Pride
Events commence on Friday, June 12, with a Pride Kick Off Pool Party held at the hip and gay-friendly Moorpark Hotel from 6 until 8 pm. The hotel is at 4241 Moorpark Avenue, just off I-280 at Saratoga Avenue.
On Saturday, June 13, San Jose Pride holds the first day of its festival at Discovery Meadow in Guadalupe River Park, which takes place throughout the day from 10 am until 8 pm. Entertainers on Saturday include Blair Hansen, Orquesta d'Soul, Resistant Me, Trusting Lucy, and several others.
Then on Sunday, June 14, the Pride Festival continues at Discovery Meadow, again from 10 am until 8 pm, with performances by Kat DuLuna, Smash-Up Derby, Finding Stella, Crystal Waters, and headliner Brandy.
This is also the day of the San Jose Gay Pride Parade, which takes place from 10 am until 11 am and runs right through the city center - here's a map of the parade route and festival grounds.
Of course, additionally, plenty of gay-popular restaurants, hotels, and shops will be extra busy during this busy time, and catering heavily to LGBT visitors. Check local gay media, such as South Bay Voice and San Francisco's Bay Area Reporter, for details, and also check out the excellent Website of the San Jose Convention and Visitors Bureau.
