When people think of gay events in Orlando, the hugely well-attended Disney Gay Days, held in early June, comes immediately to mind. But Orlando also throws an impressive Gay Pride Celebration in early October - the dates this year are October 6 to October 12, 2014. As opposed to Gay Days, the city's Gay Pride Parade and Festival is focused more on the city of Orlando than the theme parks southwest of it. Orlando Pride is organized by the city's LGBT business community, the Metropolitan Business Association of Orlando, Florida.
Orlando Gay Pride takes place over a full week and includes a number of events, including opening ceremonies, a gay cruise, the Come Out With Pride Festival, and the Come Out With Pride Parade.
Lots of gay bars as well as gay-popular restaurants, hotels, and shops have special events and parties throughout Orlando Gay Days week. Check local gay papers, such as Watermark and HotSpots!, for details. Also check out the excellent guide to gay and lesbian travel produced by the Orlando Convention & Visitors Bureau.
