The largest city in the state, Oklahoma City has a large and quite visible gay community - in this otherwise very conservative state, this is the city with the most gay bars and gay-owned businesses. It's also home to the well-attended Oklahoma Gay Pride Festival and Parade, which takes place during a new time this year, mid- to late May. There's a full week of Pride activity, from May 17 through May 26, 2013. The Pride Festival will take place May 18, the Parade May 19, and organizers are partnering with the Oklahoma Gay Rodeo Association, which will be presenting the Great Plains Rodeo the weekend of May 24 to May 26.

Additionally, plenty of gay-popular restaurants, hotels, and shops cater heavily to LGBT visitors during this time.
