In Mid-July, the increasingly visible and ever-growing LGBT community of Monterey County (i.e., the towns of Monterey, Carmel, Pacific Grove, Salinas, Big Sur, Carmel Valley, and Soledad) celebrate the Pride of Monterey County Festival. In 2009, the festival takes place on July 11.
Events include entertainment, a GLBT Market, and a number of additional events. The festivities occur at the Monterey County Fairgrounds and run from 11 am until 7 pm.
Of course, additionally, numerous bars as well as gay-popular restaurants, hotels, and shops have special events and parties throughout the week leading up to Monterey Pride. Check local papers, such as the progressive-minded Monterey County Weekly for ideas.
