Opened in fall 2011 in the space formerly occupied by Skewers and before that SKW, the hip Debauchery Bar & Grill (8939 Santa Monica Blvd.) has a sexy 1920s-speakeasy vibe, thanks in part to the talented bar staff's prowess at mixing up sophisticated, cocktails - from classics to new inventions. The kitchen turns out nicely prepared Mediterranean-inspired tapas, and the drinks are decidedly upscale but comprising high-quality, fresh ingredients and premium liquor. Debauchery has quickly become a favorite, and is evidence of Santa Monica Boulevard's steady transformation into a more cosmopolitan stretch of dining and nightlife. As with most of the bars and restaurants along this thoroughfare, the crowd is heavily GLBT.
