One of the many quirky restaurants in the resolutely quirky mining village of Jerome, Belgian Jennie's is named in honor of one of the several ladies of the evening who earned a good living during the town's mining heyday. The restaurant at 412 Main Street (928-639-3141) is one of the more reliable and colorful dining options in this small, artsy town of about 500, which is a 30-minute drive from Sedona across the Verde Valley. Simple, even somewhat predictable, American chow is served - spinach-artichoke dip, hot wings, New York-style pizzas, spaghetti with meat sauce, chicken Florentine. But the prices are reasonable and the ambience highly enjoyable. The restaurant is right in the center of town, close to local shops, including the Jerome Artists Cooperative.
