Site of the former Atlantic Shores Hotel

As of August 2007, this is all that remained of the beloved Atlantic Shores Hotel, one of Key West's longest-running accommodations - this property formerly at 510 South Street had been especially famous for its pool and deck overlooking the sea. Although the Atlantic Shores is no more, the property has been purchased by the gay-friendly Southernmost Hotel & Resorts group, which has five great properties in town (many of the Atlantic Shores former employees were hired by Southernmost as well). According to Southernmost Hotels, they're developing a new 80-room luxury property that will become part of the 47-room Southernmost on the Beach property. Look for the new wing to be completed sometime in late in 2008.
