Adjacent, on the west side, to the regal Boston Common, the verdant Public Garden is a wonderful spot for a stroll, or to admire the famed Swan Boats. The garden was laid out in 1837 and is a short walk from the Back Bay and gay-popular South End neighborhoods. The posh Four Seasons Hotel is on the south side of the garden, and the Ritz-Carlton is on the west side. The Public Garden is bordered by Boylston, Arlington, Beacon, and Charles streets.
