Austin's oldest gay bar, Charlie's lies in the shadows of the Texas State Capitol, a short drive or 10-minute walk from the Warehouse District, home to most of the city's gay clubs. This is a popular locals hangout with an unpretentious vibe - the decor is a bit dated, but the drinks are inexpensive and the staff friendly.
