Of the dozen or so gay nightspots in Guadalajara's "Centro" historic district, Circus (Av. Galeana 277, 3613-0299) is arguably the most popular, especially on Friday nights (it's also open on Saturdays and for special events), when the bi-level club with its two pulsing dance floors throbs into the late-night hours. Circus has one larger room for dancing, and next to that a smaller one with a couple of quieter side rooms for relaxing. It's just off the main gay-bar drag of Av. Prisciliano Sanchez, steps from several other appealing places for dancing and cruising.

Circus Disco occupies a grand old building and draws a young (mostly under 30) crowd that's about 65/35 male to female, but it's a very friendly and welcoming spot. The staff treats everyone well, and you won't encounter much attitude. On weekend evenings, a steady roster of scantily clad go-go boys works the room. The owners of Circus also run the newer and swankier gay nightclubs Black Cherry (on the West Side of the city) and Link (in Zona Rosa).
