Although technically in Hollywood, this is the closest men's bathhouse to the Santa Monica Boulevard GLBT nightlife action in West Hollywood.
Melrose Spa (7269 Melrose Ave., 323-937-2122) is part of the Midtown Spa gay bathhouse chain, which has two other locations in the Los Angeles area (Midtowne Spa in downtown L.A., and 1350 Club, in the city of Wilmington - down near San Pedro and Long Beach). Set on Melrose Avenue near La Brea, Melrose Spa is open 24/7 and caters to a cross section of WeHo guys, from Latinos to leather dudes. Set in an unassuming building with a front door right on the street (not generally a given with bathhouses), Melrose Spa has a full slate of gay and locker room amenities, a sundeck, and a mix of private rooms ($27) and lockers ($16), but a variety of discounts and deals reduce these prices much of the time, especially on weekdays.
Other popular gay bathhouses and sex clubs in Los Angeles include Flex Baths in Silver Lake and part of another popular chain of bathhouses with locations in many cities; the Slammer Sex Club, which is also in Silver Lake as well as in Fort Lauderdale, Florida; the Zone L.A., in Hollywood and also very close to WeHo (and very popular); and the Hollywood Spa, also in Hollywood as well with a branch in the San Fernando Valley city of North Hollywood. Factoring in all these different places for guys to hook up with other guys in greater Los Angeles, it's probably fair to say that this is the gay-sex-club capital of America.
The Midtowne Spa brand also has a strong presence in Texas, with locations in Austin, Dallas, and Houston. There are others in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Denver, Colorado.
