In the heart of Dunedin's hip little downtown corridor along Main Street, the complex that comprises Kelly's Restaurant, the Chic a Boom Room, and Blur Nightclub (319-325 Main St., 727-736-0206) is the northernmost gay nightlife destination in the St. Petersburg region - it's close to Clearwater, and not too far a drive from downtown Tampa, either. Blur is the dance club, with DJs on weekends, live-music shows, karaoke nights, and drag revues (plus "Bingo with Traila Parks").
The more intimate Kelly's Chic a Boom Room is a festive cocktail bar with an extensive martini list as well as an impressive wine list and more than 85 beers available, including eight on tap. You can also dine from the full restaurant menu in the Chic a Boom section, or head next door to Kelly's main restaurant space, where burgers, creative pita pizzas, fruit and cheese plates, crab cakes, and similar enticing, light fare are available. The crowd at these spots is a catch-all of locals and tourists, gays and straights, women and men - expect a fun, age-varied, and easygoing mix.
