In addition to having presented a number of special exhibits of particular interest to LGBT visitors, most recently "Alexander McQeen: Savage Beauty" in 2011, the vaunted Metropolitan Museum of Art (1000 5th Ave. at 82nd St., 212-535-7710) has hundreds of works within its vast holdings created by queer artists. Visiting the iconic museum occupying a large wedge of green space in Central Park on the Upper East Side, is the sort of endeavor that yields wonderfully varied and rich results every time you walk through the door. The museum charges a "suggested admissions" of $20 for adults, although you can pay what you'd care to. Hours are Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday 9:30 to 5:30, and Friday and Saturday 9:30 to 9.
