It used to be that skiers had to choose either of the resort's neighboring mountains - Whistler or Blackcomb - and stick with their choice throughout the day. This all changed in 2008 with the construction of the Peak 2 Peak Gondola, a 2.7-mile-long aerial tram that carries passengers 1,427 feet above Fitzsimmons Creek between the two mountains. Not only is Peak 2 Peak a great way to navigate the slopes of both mountains, the ride itself offers dazzling views of mountains around Whistler, as well as the village down below. The gondola stations lie at mid-mountain, at the Rendezvous area on Blackcomb and the Roundhouse Lodge on Whistler - at both of these areas, you'll find substantial dining options as well as access to many of the prominent ski runs and lifts on both mountains. On the Whistler side, you can reach Peak to Peak from the village via the Whistler Village Gondola. From the Blackcomb side, access is via the Wizard Express and Solar Coaster Express lifts. During the summer season, Peak to Peak remains open and popular, a good way to access the many hiking trails on both mountains (one-day lift tickets - you can buy them online here - cost about $CN43, but a summertime season pass is around $CN100.
