The Dupont Circle neighborhood, which forms one of the primary centers of the Washington, DC, gay scene, is named for the traffic circle shown here and bisected by Massachusetts Avenue Northwest, Connecticut Avenue Northwest, 19th Street Northwest, New Hampshire Avenue Northwest, and P Street Northwest. The circle itself was part of Pierre L'Enfant's grand plan for Washington. The circle also has access to the Dupont Circle Metro Station, one of the deepest in the city.

You'll find a number of gay businesses, from bars to cafes to boutiques, along the streets emanating from Dupont Circle, in particular along the blocks of P Street Northwest extending west to Rock Creek Park.
