Capitol Hill neighborhood

Although Dupont Circle gets a bit more attention and is arguably the glam center of DC's gay community, Capitol Hill neighborhood may just be Washington's second most visible gay 'hood. The commercial stretch along Pennsylvania Avenue Southeast (from the Capitol building east for several blocks) is lined with fun restaurants, bars, and boutiques - including several gay bars. Along the surrounding residential blocks (pictured here), you'll find a number of beautifully restored colonial and Victorian townhouses.
