Opened in fall 2007, the hip and swank Hotel Indigo Nashville West End (1719 West End Ave, 615-329-4200 or 877-846-3446) has quickly become one of the city's favorite gay accommodations, in part because of its stylish rooms and in part because it's just a 10-minute walk to the several gay bars in the Church Street District (including Tribe, Blu, Play, and Blue Gene's). Amenities at this friendly mid-rise boutique hotel include a well-equipped gym and a cafe (the Golden Bean) serving Starbucks coffees and cocktails at night. You can also dine on sushi and Japanese fare at the hotel's Goten steak-and-sushi restaurant. Book one of the spacious cityview or terrace suites for extra room and terrific city views, although even standard rooms are quite large and come with Aveda bath amenities, CD players, coffeemakers, and well-designed work spaces. The campus of Vanderbilt University is just down the street, and downtown is a short drive east. Indigo is a rapidly growing gay-popular chain that's part of InterContinental Hotels, and there are other Indigos with a gay following in Atlanta, Houston, Chicago, Boston, Columbus, Dallas, Scottsdale, Indianapolis, Ottawa, Sarasota, and many more planned for the immediate future (including one for New York City's Chelsea neighborhood)
