Twist gay bar, on Washington Avenue

Gay bars have come and gone in see-and-be-seen South Beach, but Twist (1057 Washington Ave., 305-53-TWIST) has stuck it out for years (since 1993), drawing consistently nice-size and friendly (for South Beach, anyway) crowds. The bar has expanded over the years and has plenty things going for it: it's open daily till 5 am, the staff is cute and flirty, there's a beautiful garden with lush landscaping, and the bar is steps from dozens of stylish Miami Beach restaurants and hotels.
