Rubin's Chicago Room Art Gallery, Lakeview (before moving in summer 2008)

A longtime Halsted Street institution, Rubin's Chicago Room Art Gallery had been located at 3318 North Halsted Street prior to moving to a huge and impressive new space west of downtown (about a 20-minute drive from its old locale) near Garfield Park Observatory (at 3333 W. Arthington St., 773-404-2233) in summer 2008. This photo shows Rubin's before it moved from its Halsted Street locale (it had been near Fitness Formula, Chicago Male, and Kafka's Wine Shop). The gallery is renowned for the eye-catching pop art of artist Marc Rubin but also shows works by several other prominent Chicago artists.
