The two Chicago neighborhoods with the most notable gay and lesbian following, Lakeview and Andersonville, are on the north side, about three miles apart. Lakeview, especially along North Halsted Street, is nicknamed "Boystown" thanks to its many hangouts that cater largely to gay men, while the more eclectic and diverse Andersonville has a more mixed, artsy vibe and more lesbian-popular businesses.
