Colorful, hip, and modern Nooch (143 8th Ave., 212-691-8600) is a reliable option in Chelsea for mod Japanese and Thai fusion fare, including a nice range of noodle bowls, sashimi and sushi, tempuras, and the like. You might not want to make a special trip for this one, but it's a good bet when you're already in the 'hood and craving this kind of food.
