What's the best way to approach Buenos Aires' charming and gay-popular San Telmo
neighborhood on foot? One excellent strategy is to start at the city's famed Plaza Mayor, and then proceed east along Calle Defensa. The narrow Calle Defensa runs for several blocks before piercing the heart of San Telmo, and its dignified but dilapidated colonial buildings, many of them now holding antiques shops, cafes, and bars.
