Just as Fort Lauderdale continues to develop into one of the world's top few gay resorts, the city's major Pride event, Pride South Florida PrideFest, draws bigger and bigger attendance every year, in part because this is one of the nation's first such celebrations - it's held in March 9 and 10, with several events taking place during the week leading up. Entertainers at Fort Lauderdale's PrideFest this year include Frenchie Davis on Saturday and the pop duo Karmin on Sunday - here's a full look ahead at the weekend.
There's also a very fun-sounding Caribbean Pride cruise taking place at the conclusion of PrideFest - this Princess Cruises adventure hosted by famed LGBT radio talents Derek and Romaine leaves March 10 and returns to Fort Lauderdale March 17. The next few weeks will be a very fun time to play around in Fort Lauderdale and its neighboring "gayborhood," Wilton Manors.
Just in time for the big weekend, I've created a Fort Lauderdale and Wilton Manors Gay Nightlife Guide - as I tend to do with these, I'll be adding a number of gay-friendly restaurants and cafes to this article as well over the next couple of days.
Speaking of Wilton Manors, mark you calendars for late June, the Stonewall Summer Pride Festival and Parade is set to take place June 22 and 23 this year, in the heart of that lively hub of gay bars, restaurants, and shops. Here's a quick preview.
