Just as a blast of frigid Arctic air rushes through New England this week, the Green Mountain State is readying for 29th edition of the ever popular Winter Rendezvous, aka Stowe Gay Ski Week, which commences on January 23 and lasts through the 27th. As I like to remind readers whenever I talk about gay ski and snowboard events, these gatherings are great fun if you're a fan of winter sports, but you needn't be an ardent skier or boarder to enjoy them. There are all sorts of parties going on, plus other activities beyond skiing - from snowshoeing to dog-sledding. And, of course, Stowe's cushy resorts have hot tubs, in some cases spas, and cozy bars and restaurants that perfect for apres-ski relaxation.
In addition to Winter Rendezvous at Stowe, however, Vermont has a brand-new event for GLBT ski bunnies, and it's taking place at New England's largest ski resort, Killington. The first ever Vermont Winter Gay Pride is set for the first weekend in February (Feb. 1 to 3) - here's a preview of this get-together, which is partly a fundraiser for the state's only LGBT community center, RU12? up near Burlington in the town of Winooski.
