Mohegan Sun CasinoAs part of an ongoing effort to report on gay nightlife and friendly dining options throughout New England, I've been writing about Connecticut lately, which is home to the two largest casinos in New England, Foxwoods and nearby Mohegan Sun. This southeastern part of the state also takes in the coast from the small city of New London - home to a pair of gay bars - east through historic Mystic, with its rich maritime history and museums, and the charming little village of Stonington, which juts into Long Island Sound near the Rhode Island border. Here's a New London and Mystic Gay Bars guide to help plan your socializing when visiting this part of the world.

Mystic and the casinos are a little less than an hour's drive from Providence, a two-hour drive from Boston, and a little less than a three-hour drive from New York City.
