Note: this post originally ran in August 2012. Rainbow Days at Six Flags Over Georgia will take place August 10, 2013, and the blog post below has been amended to reflect new dates and information.

Atlanta's LGBT community is gearing up for the fourth-annual Rainbow Days at Six Flags Over Georgia party, which is quickly developing into one of the Southeast top gay summer parties. Rainbow Days was begun by Atlanta Premier Events Group, and a portion of proceeds from the weekend help to support three important LGBT-related nonprofit organizations: The Health Initiative, MEGA Family Project, and Pets Are Loving Support.

The celebration takes place on Saturday, August 10, with a full day of fun and rides at 100-acre Six Flags Over Georgia, just off I-20, about 10 miles due west of downtown Atlanta. Admission packages range from $23.99 to $49.99 and you can purchase tickets online; the Gold Package includes park admission (and rides), parking, entry into the private pavilion, an all-you-can-eat-buffet, and performances by noted entertainers. Additionally, on Sunday the following day, there's a Rainbow Days picnic in Midtown Atlanta's Piedmont Park.

Atlanta's many fun gay bars and clubs will no doubt be especially packed this weekend, with plenty of folks continuing their celebrating into the evening. Here's a guide to Atlanta Gay Nightlife. Also be sure to mark your calendars for Atlanta Gay Pride, which takes place this year over the weekend of October 12 and 13.
