I recently blogged about a new magazine I'm editing on gay travel in Hawaii, OutAloha, which debuted in February 2012. I'm also now the editor in the chief of a second new gay and lesbian travel and lifestyle magazine, OutCity, the first issue of which came out in early June. This biannual magazine focuses on gay travel in Vancouver, BC; Victoria, BC; Seattle, WA; and Portland, OR; as well as on the many other cool spots to explore throughout Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia.
Our aim was to create a magazine that would inspire visitors from all over the world to explore the beautiful Pacific Northwest, which is home to some of the most scenic, sophisticated, and gay-friendly cities and towns in North America, and also to help those living in the Northwest come up with fresh and interesting ideas for vacations in their own backyard. For example, I wrote about and up-and-coming neighborhood in Eugene, OR, in the first issue, and we have a great feature story on the San Juan and Gulf islands, which straddle the U.S./Canada border and are a favorite weekend getaway of LGBT vacationers.
To reiterate, I'll continue my post here at About.com, and I'll also continue writing extensively about the Pacific Northwest here on the site, whether about upcoming Vancouver Gay Pride or continuing to expand my Portland Gay Guide and Gallery. As with OutAloha, my hope is that OutCity will be another useful and fun resource for GLBT travelers seeking advice on where to go next.
