Kansas City's Gay Scene Comes Into Its Own

Kansas City's skyline, viewed from Liberty Memorial; photo by Andrew CollinsI just made a relatively short but enjoyable trip to Kansas City, a metropolis I've long ranked among the country's most underrated, especially in terms of its gay scene. Kansas City has a great mix of artsy and up-and-coming neighborhoods (the Crossroads Arts District, Power and Light District, Westport, Country Club Plaza, and so on), and its mix of affordable yet sophisticated restaurants, hotels, and boutiques makes it an excellent choice if you're on a slightly tight budget and still seek upscale diversions. The city is also home to several outstanding museums, the jewel in the crown being the recently expanded (with a stunning addition) Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Here's my latest photographic tour of Kansas City, which I'll be adding to throughout the fall and winter.
